A Note From the President

Thank you all for another wonderful year at Lawson. Beginning with the WEB coffee, and ending with this year’s graduation party, it has been a great year. The kids have grown and developed so much this year and had a wonderful time. We have wonderful kids at Lawson, and wonderful parents as well. Thank you so much for the wonderful parent participation this year. Parent participation has been proven to make good schools, and our kids benefit so much from all your help.
It was wonderful to have so many volunteers for the 8th grade Portfolio Day. We had interviewers from the community, the mayor, Superintendent Phil Quon, and many of the Board members, employees from Apple , as well as many parents who helped make our first Portfolio Day a success. Thank you to everyone who participated.
This Friday is the last day of school! Our graduation ceremony will be held at 4pm out in the field. The graduation party will be held at 7-10pm in our gym and the courtyard area. The graduation party is a wonderful tradition that can only happen if parents lend a hand. This year’s party room (the gym) will be open for viewing by all parents on Thursday morning from 8:30 AM – 9:40 AM. We encourage 6th and 7th grade parents to come and see what the graduation party is all about. We also encourage all 8th grade parents to come and see what your kids will be able to enjoy on Friday. It is meant to be a surprise for the kids, so you are welcome to take pictures, but please do not ruin it for your child and others by showing the pictures to an 8th grader or posting anything online until after the party on Friday.
We will miss our graduating 8th graders. They will be the 3rd graduating class of Lawson. I hope they leave feeling prepared for high school as well as many fond memories of their time at Lawson.
In closing, I just want to express my thanks to this year’s wonderful PTA board. Each member of the board did an outstanding job! Graduation, CEEF, directory, e-scrip, copying services, dance food, Reflections, coordinating volunteers, teacher appreciation, taking minutes at our meetings, keeping track of our money, maintaining our website, - every job was done fabulously. It was a joy to work with such dedicated and wonderful people. We all benefited from the efforts of the PTA board and all of the many, many volunteers. Every little bit helped to make it a great year!
Thank you all for a wonderful year and enjoy your summer! For those returning in August, please check the PTA website in the beginning of August if you can help before school starts to assemble the first day of school packets. It is a fun activity to get back together and get a sneak peek at what the new year will bring!
