                        A Note From the President

Our PTA meeting is this Thursday, March 11, 2010 in the Library at 7:15pm.  We have a busy agenda with many important topics for discussion.  I hope you can join us and give us your input. Our nominating committee will be reporting on their nominations for the coming year.  We will be discussing the parent led Their Future is Now!  Campaign to raise $3 million.

Their Future is Now!   seeks to raise $3 million to protect the quality of our core academic instruction for students in all grade levels throughout the district.  These funds will reinstate up to 115 teachers in Kindergarten through 8th grade, prevent the reshuffling of teachers to new grades and new schools, and restore class sizes in primary grades to 20:1.  In achieving its goal, Their Future Is Now! will benefit students in all 25 schools in the Cupertino Union School District.

On March 1, 2010, Mrs. Sam Lawson, Marilyn Lawson, passed away.  Her memorial service will be held on Friday, March 12th at 2 pm at Union Church of Cupertino, 20900 Stevens Creek Blvd. Cupertino.   The Lawson PTA will have representatives attending the funeral and sending flowers and at this week’s PTA meeting we will be discussing plans to establish a garden, Mrs. Lawson’s garden, in her memory.  It was wonderful that the family requested that in lieu of flowers, they asked that donations be made to various charities, including the Lawson Sports Boosters.

Our next Staff Appreciation Lunch is next Friday, March 19, the theme is Spring (Seafood) Showers sponsored by the 6th grade parents. I hope you can help us make it a wonderful day for our teachers.  We can always use help with set-up, clean-up, and food donations or cash donations (if that is easier for you). Please contact Kathy Fujii at kathyfujii@sbcglobal.net to let her know how you want to help.

Thanks all for your help!

Go Lightening
