Graduation 2011: Not JUST for 8th grader parents!!!

The largest event the Lawson PTA organizes is the 8th grade graduation.  Last year, 200+ volunteers helped in both small and large ways.  Initial planning at low levels begins ~October, rentals/reservations are made ~January, and then the implementation gets into full swing ~April - culminating in the big day when we have the both the graduation ceremony and party! Graduation tag-up meetings with committee leads occur the ½ hour prior to the monthly PTA meeting, as needed. 

The well-publicized Lawson Graduation SECRET …Volunteering for graduation yields a bonus payback…. reserved seating for your child’s graduation (10 hours minimum, with priority based on total hours you have volunteered), so….6th grader parents, start accruing hours this year!

We need your help. Graduation will be held on the last day of school, but it’s time to establish the committee now. We have a start at our graduation committee, but need one or two people willing to act as the overall chairperson(s) and a few committee leads. We have amassed notes, contacts, budgets, equipment, etc. from previous years to help volunteers willing to fill the OPEN positions. If you can help, please contact Raji Malaviya (include your name, phone number, child’s name & grade). The last six roles are best filled by non-8th grader parents, but anyone can fill any of these positions.

Graduation 2011: Message for 8th grader parents

Don’t forget to pre-order your child’s graduation party ticket. If you act before Sept 30th, a $25 discounted price is available, thereafter the price will be $30 (contact the school if you need financial assistance – it is the intent that EVERY graduate attend the party).

This price is quite a deal and will cover the cost of decorations/supplies for the graduation ceremony and a DVD of the ceremony if you choose to order one. It also includes the refreshments, supplies, decorations, favors, party photos, hired entertainment, and rentals needed to throw the party.
