The Sam Lawson Middle School PTA extends a very warm welcome to you.

           

   Your participation and membership encourages several infrastructural, educational and support programs in the school as is reflected in the President's note on the Homepage. Please help us continue this positive trend by signing-up for membership. The cost is very nominal at $ 15 for the whole year per person. Membership will also include a copy of the School Directory.

   PTA membership numbers affect PTA lobbying for education in Sacramento and Capitol Hill. It helped California schools receive $550 million last year, duly acknowledged by the Governor. Just the act of joining the PTA is something that caters to every child in one voice, beyond the narrow confines of the school. Members make a tremendous contribution towards supporting childrens' education and receiving grants and aide, especially in Sacramento and Capitol Hill, without necessarily engaging in active volunteering. Your membership will strengthen the PTA voice so that policy makers in all areas, at all levels will hear a strong, unified message on behalf of children, youth, and families.

   We are not just a part of the California State PTA but also the National PTA. As the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation, the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) reminds our country of its obligations to children and provides parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child while providing the best tools for parents to help their children be successful students. The National PTA does not act alone. Working in cooperation with many national education, health, safety, and child advocacy groups and federal agencies, the National PTA collaborates on projects that benefit children and that bring valuable resources to its members.
