As April finishes out, I hope you will consider voting Yes on Measure B and help us provide the resources needed for our local schools. Your ballot must reach the Registrar of Voters office before the May 5th deadline. Any ballots received after that date will be null and void. So be sure to have your vote count and send in your ballot as soon as possible. The ballot measure is for 6 years, and will have a parent oversight committee and cannot be used for administrators’ salaries. Thank you for all your support for those who participated in the phone banks, the precinct walks, talking to your neighbors, and hosting signs in your yards for these past few months!
Congratulations to Lawson student, Vinitra Swamy (Grade 6 - Mrs. Guerra) who won the CEEF ePIC Film Festival Award in the category 'Best Instructional Film' for her film 'Magic of Quilling'. The Awards Ceremony was held right here at Lawson on April 3rd. It was very grand with an Oscar Style format. Good Job Vinitra!
On April 25th, Superintendent Quon introduced the 12 students selected for the Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities student exchange program on stage at the Cherry Blossom Festival. Among them, representing Lawson, was Sacheth Hedge! The Sister City student exchange program is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture by living with another family in July. Congratulations Sacheth!
This Saturday from 9am -3pm , May 2nd will be another opportunity to come and help create magic for the 2009 Graduation. We hope you can come and help us make this be a successful event for this year’s graduates.
May 4-14th will be STAR testing and we are looking forward to a successful week for our kids. Let us make it a relaxing week of testing so our kids can be fresh and ready rather than stressed and anxious.
We will celebrate the end of STAR testing with a final Staff Appreciation Lunch for the year on May 15th. Our teachers are amazing and I hope you can let them know how much we appreciate all of their dedication to our children. This is the all-school Appreciation Day, so I hope you can help us let them know that we appreciate what they do every day.
The California State PTA convention is this weekend at the San Jose Convention Center. We will be sending a few representatives since it is local this year and we can send more people at a lower cost. It is a great opportunity to see how the PTA is working for us at the State and National levels. On Thursday the convention exhibition hall is free to the public if anyone is interested in visiting. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday it will only be open to delegates. So if you have the time, I encourage you to stop by!
Thanks for all your support!
