Our “Spring Fling” Staff Appreciation luncheon was hosted by our 6th grade parents on Friday, March 13th. Our staff enjoyed a wonderful lunch with wings from Wing Stop, and yummy side dishes and desserts. Thanks for helping to make it a great lunch for our great staff.
At our PTA meeting on Thursday, March 12th , we decided to support our teachers and the upcoming Measure B and donate $500 to the Yes on Measure B campaign. You can find more information regarding the upcoming parcel tax to benefit our schools at www.GreatSchoolsYesonB.org. Please check the volunteer tab to see the listings to help out.
We also decided to cancel the upcoming Pennies for Patients drive to raise money for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. We do not feel that we could do justice to this worthy cause at this time.
Last Friday, Mr. Bowman and Ms Stevenson reviewed Rachel’s Challenge at a school in the Sacramento area. Unfortunately, upon review, we did not think it was a good fit for Lawson and so we will not be presenting it this year. We are looking for another assembly to meet the needs of our students to host before the end of the year. If you know of any fabulous assemblies, please let us know, we are open to suggestions.
On April 1st, the Lawson Book Fair will host Family Night from 5:30-7:30pm. I hope you can come and enjoy a Family Social and bring your picnic dinner to enjoy in the quad. The PTA will offer Ice Cream Treats for a quarter ($.25)! Come join us!
We are accepting nominations for our Honorary Service Awards, so if you would like to recognize anyone who has done great things for our Lawson community, please e-mail Alysa Sakkas at
with the name of the person you would like to see honored and a brief description of their service to our Lawson community.
Go Lightning!
