It was wonderful seeing so many people at the Welcome Back Picnic on Sept. 25th. , marked by a beautiful warm evening and ice cream that was delicious. It was great to be able to introduce our family to the teachers and staff and their families. Thank you to our friendly scoopers - Suman Ganapathy, Raji Malaviya, Shibani Chotani, Varsha Joshi, Manisha Puranik, Priscilla Repetti, Martina Herhusky and especially to Susan Magnuson for getting all the ice cream! The WEB leaders did a great job with the games and helping with the toppings, set-up, and tear down.
Last week, the PTA executive board, had a chance to hear a speaker at Apple, discussing the skills required for "21st century learners". As one of our board pointed out, many of the things that they discussed were things that our staff is currently doing: not focusing on factoids but on the depth of understanding and the idea of allowing the kids to express what they know in creative ways not just the 500 word essay. The administration and the staff are continuing to dialog with Apple about how we can mutually benefit from our close proximity to each other.
