Welcome back! It was wonderful to have a week off to rest and relax, or to nurse everyone back to health.   I hope you had a great time with your family in this past week.

At the February Lawson PTA meeting, we endorsed the Parcel Tax initiative to benefit the Cupertino Union School District. We believe that our children’s best interest is served by providing additional funding to maintain our world-renown schools. As I drove past Lawson one evening this week, I noticed that the district is being very conscientious with the lights and the electricity bill.  I am thankful that our district is looking for every way to make cuts that will not hurt the classroom.  Unfortunately, turning down the lights will probably not be enough.  However, I believe that every little bit counts!

Given this uncertain economic time, we have decided to hold off on purchasing a gift for the school until the budget is more clearly defined.  We would like the monies collected this year to benefit the kids this year, however, we want to be prudent with our finances.

We are preparing for next year (already!), so if you are interested in helping make Lawson a great place for our kids, please let our nominating committee know!  Thank you to Maruska DeSousa, Susan Magnuson, Shalini Pachauri, Agnes Pommier and Cathy Tam for taking on the job of finding great people to make Lawson a great place.  You may e-mail us at  and we will forward your information to them.

At our last PTA meeting, we had a chance to honor our Reflections participants, but many did not get a chance to come to pick up their certificates.   The certificates will be available in the office on Thursday. We are thrilled by our participants this year and we hope to have more kids participating in the future.

Thanks for all your support!
